Bio
Sean Robinson joined Walters State in 2014 as pitching coach. Since then, the Senators have an overall record of 600-130, and have made 6 trips to the NJCAA World Series in Grand Junction, CO, earning five Top-3 finishes nationally. Under Coach Robinson’s guidance the Senators pitching staffs have had 18 pitchers taken in the MLB Draft, and have had 7 former pitchers (Brent Honeywell, Brett Martin, Ben Joyce, Ricky Karcher, Hunter Stratton, Landon Knack, Zebby Matthews) pitch in the Major Leagues. In 12 seasons, Coach Robinson has mentored 69 pitchers who signed with Division 1 Schools, including 28 with Power-5 schools. 23 of his former pitchers have gone on to sign play professionally with Major League Organizations. Coach Robinson has seen 27 Walters State pitchers be named All-TCCAA (21 of those 1st Team), 6 TCCAA Pitcher of the Year award winners, and 7 NJCAA All-Americans. In 8 of his 12 seasons, Coach Robinson’s pitching staffs have finished in the Top-5 in the nation in strikeouts, and have led the nation three times. The 2022 Senators staff set a school record with 679 K’s in the season. Coach Robinson has twice guided the NJCAA National Pitcher of the Year, in 2016 with Jake Miednik and in 2022 with Kohl Drake.
Prior to Walters State, Coach Robinson played baseball at Milligan College from 2010-2013. After playing, he began his coaching career as a Volunteer Assistant Coach at Carson Newman University. Coach Robinson graduated from Milligan College with an undergrad in Business Administration in 2013 and received a Masters of Business Administration from there in December 2014.
A native of Knoxville, TN, Coach Robinson attended Central High School where he graduated in 2009. He now lives in Knoxville, TN with his wife, Krista, and sons Brooks and Tatum.
