Senators remain in Top 10 after third round of NJCAA DII Golf Championship
PLYMOUTH, IN – The sun poked its head out on Thursday during the third round of the NJCAA DII Golf Championship at Swan Lake Resort, but the wind still played a factor as Walters State took the course.
As a team, the Senators shot 25-over in round three and are 58-over for the tournament. Walters State is in a tie for eighth place.
Leading the way for the Senators was Jonas Rayfield at three-over. A substitution for round three, Rayfield caught fire on the front nine with a birdie on three and three straight on holes 5-7. On the back nine, Rayfield shot 4-over to shoot 3-over for the round.
Along with Rayfield, Blake Woody shot 6-over to sit at 14-over for the tournament. Woody birdied the fifth hole and is in 33rd place for the tournament. Third for Walters State was Sloan Brooks 7-over and 18-over for the tournament. Brooks' lone birdie of his round came on the 15th hole, and he is in 53rd place.
Rounding out the team for Walters State were Alex Gaetz and Bowen Brantley. Gaetz shot 9-over in his round with birdies on four and nine and is in 65th place at 20-over for the tournament. Meanwhile, Brantley shot 11-over on Thursday with a birdie on the fifth. He's 15-over for the tournament and in 39th place.
