Kardatzke and Butler in Top 10 after opening day of Bob Dibble Memorial
CHUCKEY, TN – Walters State's Brant Kardatzke and Maddox Butler are in the top 10 after the first two rounds of the Bob Dibble Memorial on Monday at Graysburg Hills Golf Course.
As a team, the Senators are in ninth place at 17-over. Walters State shot 9-over in the opening round and followed it up with an 8-over in round two.
Kardatzke led the way for Walters State through the first 36 holes, sitting at 2-under and in eighth place. Kardatzke finished the opening round at one-over, birdieing the fifth, 11th, 15th and 18th holes. Kardatzke shot 1-under on the back nine.
In his second round, Kardatzke carded a bogey-free back nine and had birdies on the 10th, 13th and 17th holes. He had three straight birdies on holes four-six on the front nine and shot 3-under for the round.
Right behind Kardatzke in ninth place at 1-under is Butler. Butler shot 1-under in round one, catching fire on the front nine with four straight birdies on holes five through eight. Butler also birdied the 17th hole. In the second round, Butler shot 3-under on the front nine and was even-par for the round. Butler had birdies on the first, fifth and seventh holes.
Alex Gaetz is next for Walters State, in 53rd place at 9-over. Gaetz shot 4-over in his first round and birdied the first, fifth, 10th and 13th holes. In his second round, Gaetz shot 5-over, with birdies on the first, seventh and 12th holes.
Rounding out the team are Greyson Smith in 62nd place at 11-over and Ayden Smith in 81st place at 15-over. In his opening round, Greyson Smith shot 5-over and had birdies on the ninth, 10th, 16th and 18th holes. He was 6-over in his second round and birdied the sixth, 13th and 15th holes.
Meanwhile, Ayden Smith shot six-over in his first round and birdied the first, sixth, seventh and 18th holes. In his second round, Ayden Smith had an eagle on the first hole and a birdie on the 10th hole and shot 9-over.
Playing as an individual, Blake Dawson is in 25th place at 4-over. Dawson shot three-over in his opening round and eagled the opening hole, a 513-yard par-5. In his second round, Dawson shot 1-over and birdied the fifth, 10th and 18th holes. Dawson was 1-under on the front nine.
