Senators open play in NJCAA DII Golf Championship
PLYMOUTH, IN – Walters State began play in the NJCAA DII Golf Championship on Tuesday at Swan Lake Resort in Plymouth, IN.
As a team, the Senators shot 30-over and are in 23rd place.
Ayden Smith led the way for the Senators, shooting four-over to sit in a tie for 56th place. Smith birdied holes nine and 15 on his way to the 76.
Next for Walters State was Maddox Butler, in a tie for 85th place at six-over. Butler had three birdies on the day, on the eighth, 15th and 18th holes.
Blake Dawson and Alex Gaetz were next for the Senators, sitting in a tie for 114th place at 10-over. Dawson birdied the fifth hole in his round, while Gaetz had a birdie on the par-5 18th hole.
Rounding out the team was Greyson Smith at 13-over. Smith is in a tie for 125th place.

Walters State will play in round two of the NJCAA DII Golf Championship on Wednesday. The Senators will begin teeing off at 11:12 am ET.
